By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria defender, Ashleigh Plumptre is stunned to make her first ever appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The free agent switched her allegiance to Nigeria at the International scene after appearing for England age grade team in the past.
And the Leicester-born star said appearing at the Women’s World Cup looks unreal to her and never thought it could happen.
“It feels very surreal, I never thought I would ever be in a position to go to a Women’s World Cup,” Plumptre was quoted by BSN Sports.
“I remember when we beat Cameroon at the WAFCON (in the quarterfinal) to qualify; it was just unbelievable.”
Ashleigh Plumptre made her debut for the Super Falcons in the 2-0 win against Ivory Coast at the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The 25 year old defender qualified to play for Nigeria through her maternal grandfather that’s a Yoruba man from Lagos.
