Champions League: Raphael Onyedika assist leaves teammate speechless

By Saheed Afolabi
Club Brugge captain Hans Vanaken was full of praise for Raphael Onyedika after the Nigerian international delivered a stunning assist in their 1-0 victory over Sturm Graz in the UEFA Champions League.
Onyedika’s precise, defense-splitting pass set up Christos Tzolis for the decisive goal, securing Brugge’s first win in the competition this season.
Vanaken was left in awe of Onyedika’s skills. “What a goal. Fine control, great assist by Onyedika, and neatly finished by Tzolis,” Vanaken said, acknowledging the importance of the moment.
Despite the win, Vanaken lamented the missed opportunities later in the game, including a chance by Jutglà that could have eased their nerves.
“We had so much possession. We had another excellent opportunity through Jutglà that really should have gone in, but it didn’t. It would have made things much easier for us.”
With 14 points from nine games, Club Brugge will next face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Pro League on Sunday, October 6th.
