Fidelis Ilechukwu, the Technical Adviser of Enugu Rangers, has lauded his team’s fighting spirit following their impressive victory against Heartland in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match.

The match, held at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba on Sunday, saw Rangers clinch a crucial win with goals from Ifeanyi Onyebuchi and Kalu Nweke.

Onyebuchi rose highest to head home a corner kick from Nweke in the 38th minute, while Nweke himself doubled the lead with a powerful shot from 25 meters out in the 54th minute.

Despite a late consolation goal from Heartland’s substitute Chukwuebuka Ogbonna, Rangers held on to secure the victory.

The win propelled Rangers to the top of the NPFL table, displacing Lobi Stars from the prime position.

Ilechukwu expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, describing it as a reward for their hard work. He emphasized the need to maintain the momentum and continue pushing higher in the league.

“It was a great game between two great sides, and I am very glad that we ended the game on the winning side.

We worked very hard to earn this victory, and I thank God for it. Hopefully, we shall keep the momentum to push higher in the league,” Ilechukwu stated.

With the victory, Rangers now sit at the top of the NPFL standings with 48 points from 27 matches. They are set to host Sunshine Stars in their next fixture and will also compete in the final match of the 2024 Enugu F.A Cup against Coal City United.
