Lagos governor Sanwo-olu fetes with Women’s World Cup returning Nigeria trio

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu has expressed excitement in meeting with three Super Falcons players who visited him after their heroic performances at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Queen of African women’s football, Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade and Gift Monday met governor Sanwo-olu at the state house in Marina as the trio played an active part for the Super Falcons at the World Cup as they exited the tournament at the knockout stage.
Sanwo-olu said he was honored to receive the three Super Falcons players, praised their gallantry run at the World Cup which he believes will create a new era of more supporters of women’s football in Nigeria.
“Honoured to have received some team members of our remarkable Super Falcons at the Lagos House in Marina earlier today,” Sanwo-olu said on his official Twitter handle.
“Asisat Oshoala who came in company of Rasheedat Ajibade and Monday Gift, came to pay us a courtesy visit.
“The Super Falcons incredible run at the FIFA Women’s World Cup has ignited a new era of enthusiasm for women’s football in Nigeria. Their achievements on the field and the unity they brought to our nation are truly remarkable.”
The sport loving governor promised to empower and encourage women’s athletes to become a legend.
“We will continue to empower and encourage our female athletes, and also work towards a brighter future for women’s football in Nigeria.
“A big thank you to these amazing ladies for their visit, and for the gifts of the clubs jerseys.”
