Nigeria U20 men and women set to open World Cup and WAFU-B camping in Abuja

By Monsurah Olatunji

The Nigeria U20 men’s and women’s national teams are set to resume preparations for their upcoming tournaments according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The men’s U20 Flying Eagles after winning Bronze at the just-concluded CAF U20 African Nations Cup will commence their training for the FIFA U20 World Cup.
The tournament which is earlier slated for Indonesia will kick off in May 2033 as FIFA is yet to announce a new host since Indonesia’s right was withdrawn.
On the other hand, the women’s U20 Falconets team will start its preparation for the maiden WAFU U20 Championship to be hosted by Ghana in May.
Nigeria is drawn in the same group with the host, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast and NFF General Secretary, Sanusi Mohammed confirmed that the two national teams will resume camping later this week.
“I can confirm to you that the two national teams will resume camping this week,” Mohammed told BSN Sports.
“We are waiting for the coaches to submit their programs which will help us to know and put certain things in place ahead of their resumption. We will give them all the necessary support and I believe they will do the country proud.
“Flying Eagles who have been in camp for so long over time have enjoyed good preparation and will also be taken good care of. Once the coaches submit their programs, we are good to go.”
