NPFL: Ghanaian defender, Desmond Agbekpornu talks up Shooting Stars’ chances
By Wale Mustapha
Desmond Agbekpornu assures Shooting Stars will live above board this time and make significant impact when they kick start their second stanza of the Nigeria Premier Football League against Akwa United on Sunday.
Agbekpornu, a Ghanaian defender won the NPFL title with Rivers United last season and is keen to make impact for the Oluyole Warriors after a below par performance in the first stanza for the Ibadan based outfit.
And the centre defender is hoping that his side can turn things around in the remaining nine games of the season, while calling on the fans not to lose confidence in the team.
“It is going to be a different ball game in this second round, our teeming supporters and fans should believe in us and we will never let them down,” Agbekpornu told 3SC Media.
“We had it rough in the first round, but we will never allow that to affect us in the second round and I believe we have what it takes for a change of fortune based on our preparations so far.
“People should not write us off based on our first round performance. I could remember when I was with Ashanti Gold, we did not do well in the first round but we came back strongly in the second and we ended on a positive note, who says it cannot happen with Shooting Stars.”
Shooting Stars will kick start their second round campaign with an away game against Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
