Odion Ighalo backs Victor Osimhen amid transfer uncertainty

Amid speculation over Victor Osimhen’s future, former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has publicly extended his support to the reigning African player of the year.

Ighalo, one of the richest footballers in Nigeria, has publicly been playing the role of a mentor to the Napoli star.

Meanwhile, Osimhen is still expected to leave Napoli this summer despite his hefty €130m release clause.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles star has however been linked with multiple high-profile clubs this summer, including PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal and a few others.

The ongoing uncertainty has left Osimhen exiled from pre-season preparations under new manager Antonio Conte.

Ighalo who remained a foster figure in the life of the Napoli star has offered encouragement concerning his career.

“Champions aren’t born, they are built. They grind,” he posted on Instagram.

“They push. They take every defeat, every setback and turn it into stepping stone.”
