By Wale Mustapha
Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu registered his fifth and sixth and goal of the new Turkish Super Lig on Friday helping Trabzonspor to 2-1 win over Konyaspor.
The Super Eagles’ forward who was left out the Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe scored both goals in second half after both teams failed to convert numerous chances in the opening half.
His first goal was a rebound a minute before the hour mark when Konyaspor defender redirected Nicholas Pepe’s shot to his path and placed it to the bottom left corner for the opener.
The visitors notched their equalizer when Louka Prip headed home from Nelson Oliveira’s delivery in the 77th minute.
Onuachu restored Trabzonspor’s lead with five minutes to full time with a brilliant back heel goal from Enis Destan.
The former Genk’s striker has however showed why he deserved a place in Super Eagles’ team as he continues to produce impressive performances at club level.
