“Poor Super Falcons side ever” – Portia Modise berates Nigeria’s Olympic ticket win

Former South Africa forward Portia Modise has berated the Super Falcons of Nigeria for its performance against South Africa in their Olympic qualifiers.
Modise, who scored 102 goals in 124 appearances for her country, says Banyana Banyana played the poorest Nigerian national team she has ever seen.
However, it was the West African side that progressed to the finals after defeating Desiree Ellis-led team 1-0 on aggregate.
While coach Randy Waldrum’s girls have been applauded for securing Nigeria’s first appearance at the Olympics in 16 years, Modise is appalled at the type of football the Falcons displayed against South Africa.
“I am hurt even now after seeing the game; it’s my first time to see a poor Nigeria team like this since I started football,” Modise said on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified, as per Goal.
“We needed to beat that team; they didn’t have anything to scare us. That Nigeria players can’t trap the ball, they can’t do even first touches. That was not a Nigeria we used to play against, not this one.
“When I was watching the game yesterday, we needed people with skill and players who could think, there was none of that in the game against Nigeria yesterday.”
