Stanley Eguma boasts of Rivers United’s tactical edge in Motema Pembe victory

Stanley Eguma believes the winning strategy that has helped his side see off Motema Pembe in their Thursday’s CAF Confederations Cup encounter this year.

Rivers United defeated Congolese side 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio stadium, Uyo thanks to a treble from Ghanaian forward Paul Acquah to reclaim the top spot in the CAFCC group B standings.

The club’s manager gave Motema Pembe some respect as he believes the club did well but insists his side’s tactical approach was the major difference.

“Our opponents played well but our tactical plans gave us maximum points today [Thursday],” Eguma told media.

Despite starting their group stage campaign on a losing note, Rivers have been able to pick up from their blushes and won their last three games in the continental championship.

The Pride of Rivers top the group B with nine points from four matches with a goal difference of plus three.

The Port Harcourt based side will revert back to the Nigeria Premier Football League on the 15th of March 2023, as they play host to Enugu Rangers International at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium, Portharcourt.

On the 19th of March, Rivers United welcomes Diables Noirs to the Nest of Champions in the CAFCC.
