By Monsurah Olatunji
The 2023/24 President Federation Cup final is set to be an exciting event with both the women’s and men’s finals scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
In the women’s final, Rivers Angels will face Naija Ratels. Rivers Angels secured their spot in the final with a 2-1 victory over Delta Queens, while Naija Ratels advanced after a thrilling 2-2 draw against Remo Stars Ladies, winning 7-6 on penalties.
Naija Ratels, led by Super Falcons legend Onome Ebi for part of the season, aim to claim their first major silverware in Nigerian women’s football, marking a significant achievement for Abuja-based women’s football.
Rivers Angels, on the other hand, boast a rich history in the competition, having won the cup a record eight times and finishing as runners-up in several editions.
In the men’s final, Abia Warriors will take on El-Kanemi Warriors. Abia Warriors secured their spot in the final by defeating Kano Pillars on penalties, while El-Kanemi Warriors overcame Kebbi United in a similar fashion. This marks the first major final appearance for Abia Warriors, who defeated the 2019 champions, Kano Pillars, in the semifinals.
El-Kanemi Warriors, aiming to win their first title since their final appearance in 2001, face a determined Abia Warriors side eager to claim their maiden Federation Cup title.
Both matches promise to be intense and are scheduled at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, with the women’s final kicking off at 1pm and the men’s final at 4pm local time.
Football fans across Africa can catch the live action on DStv, while tickets are available for N200 (popular side) and N2,000 (VIP).
It’s an event not to be missed, showcasing the best of Nigerian football talent in both the women’s and men’s competitions.
