Nigeria defender, William Troost-Ekong is campaigning for the reinstatement of Jose Peseiro as the head coach of the women’s national team.
Peseiro led the Eagles to a second place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, amidst criticism before the Africa showpiece.
Troost-Ekong believes the players are in support for the reinstatement of Peseiro as he classifies reaching the AFCON final is a significant achievement that should be built on.
He said, he’s in the dark on the next move of the Portuguese coach who he revealed the players are happy to be with.
“Yes. I think the players are happy with him. Reaching the final is something significant and also something we can build on,” Troost-Ekong was quoted by CNN.
“However, on what he had in mind, I did try to ask him before we left and he said he’s going to call me back. I think I’m just as much in the dark as you guys are but I think all the players would be happy to see him back.”
Peseiro proved critics wrong to reach the final of the 2023 AFCON. His contract with the NFF expired after the AFCON.
