Embattled first choice goalkeeper of Nigeria senior men’s national team, Francis Uzoho looked to have rediscovered his lost form as he kept a clean sheet to help Omomia Nicosia recorded 2-0 away win at Nea Salamis.
The encounter marked Uzoho’s first since coming in as a substitute in defeat to Anothorsis in November 10.
The Super Eagles’ shot stopper whose place in the national team is under question following series of gaffes produced a man of the match outing for Omonia in Larnaca.
After both teams settled for goaless at half time, Omonia raised the ante and were ahead just under three minutes into restart with goal from Willy Semedo.
Ioannis Kousoulos doubled the lead for the visitors in the 68th minute with a sublime finish.
Nea Salamis created moments to stage a walk back into the game but Uzoho was with his right gloves as he kept out efforts from Diego Dorregarray, Kialy Kone and Luciano Narsingh.
The 25 year old has now kept his first clean sheet for Omonia in the league since he joined the team in 2021 from APOEL Nicosia.
Omonia’s victory has also pushed them to second on the log with 29 points from 14 games, three behind leaders APOEL.
