Kelechi Nwakali reveals reason for leaving Arsenal

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international, Kelechi Nwakali has revealed the reason for leaving English Premier League club side, Arsenal.
Nwakali who made a name for himself at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup joined the Gunners after the tournament as one of the best players that came out of Nigeria’s squad.
However, he could not play for the club and had to leave on different loan deals in the Netherlands and Portugal.
Following a three-year stint with the Gunners, Nwakali then joined Huesca in 2019 but continued with loan spells at Alcorcon and Ponferradina, before permanently leaving the Spanish club earlier last year.
The 25-year-old is now at Portuguese club Chaves, where he has made 14 appearances and has three assists to his name.
“I decided to leave Arsenal after three years because the process of getting my work permit was difficult, so I had to make a move to Spain, where I signed for Huesca,” Nwakali told Nigeria Info FM.
“I also needed a place where I could call home and establish myself.”
