“Victor Osimhen is important to us,” admits Napoli boss Francesco Calzona

Napoli’s new head coach, Francesco Calzona, has confessed the importance of Victor Osimhen following his hat trick against Sassuolo on Wednesday night.

The defending champions thrashed their opponents 6-1 with the Super Eagles star responsible for four of the goals.

The Nigerian international scored three and assisted one taking his tally to five goals in three matches under Calzona.

Napoli have had a disappointing defence of their Scudetto title, languishing in 9th place with 8 points behind Bologna in the race for Champions League football.

However, the Slovakian coach who was the third manager this season believes Osimhen will be of great importance to the Partenopei’s race for a Champions League finish.

“I believe because until mathematics condemns us, I believe,” he said via The Napoli Zone.

“Victor needed to find his rhythm again after the AFCON, and he made himself available.

“The same goes for Kvara, who was struggling. I will never give up on these players; they are so important to me.”
