NWFL: Whyte Ogbonda leaves President Federation Cup winners Rivers Angels ahead of Bayelsa Queens switch

2024 President Federation Cup winning coach Whyte Ogbonda has departed Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Rivers Angels, www.nigeriafootball.ng can exclusively report.
The former Confluence Queens coach guided the Jewels of Rivers to a second-place finish in the NWFL Premiership and ended his title drought with a 1-0 win over Naija Ratels to win this year’s President Federation Cup title.
According to a reliable source, Ogbonda is reportedly expected to join Bayelsa Queens ahead of the 2024/2025 season after the passing of former coach, Domo Okara.
Okara guided the Prosperity Girls to the West African Zone B (WAFU-B) title and a third-place finish at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League before his demise.
His last assignment was leading the Yenegoa-based side to a third-place finish at the 2023/2024 NWFL Premiership Super Six on home ground.
Whyte who is taking over as Bayelsa Queens gaffer is not a rookie in the NWFL scene.
He guided Ibom Angels to consecutive Federation Cup finals in 2018 and 2019 but ended on a losing note before taking Confluence Queens to the final of the 2019 NWFL Premiership Super Four where Rivers Angels emerged as Champions.
The experienced coach also took the Lokoja-based side to fourth place finish of the 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership Super Six in Asaba, Delta state capital.
His experience is expected to take Bayelsa Queens to the glory days of winning the league title at the end of the 2021/2022 season.
Whyte is now reportedly set to be unveiled by the management of Bayelsa Queens on Tuesday in Yenegoa, Bayelsa state capital.
