Rivers United coach, Finidi George, was satisfied with his team’s resilience after their narrow 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
The Pride of Rivers came from behind to snatch the crucial win, with goals from their attackers securing the three points.
Finidi praised the players for their fighting spirit after going a goal down, stressing that their response to adversity was key in maintaining their title push.
“It’s been a long time since we scored two goals, so doing it in this game against Nasarawa United is a big boost for the team,” Finidi said in the post-match interview.
“I told the players it was going to be a tough game because last season we didn’t win here. Conceding early pushed us to fight back, and we made quick changes to get the win.”
He also commended the team’s determination, noting that the victory was vital in maintaining their momentum at the top of the table.
Rivers United are currently at the top of the NPFL standings with 32 points from 17 matches.
The team will look to build on this performance when they face relegation-threatened Nasarawa United in their next fixture on Saturday, December 21.
