Rumour Mills: Transfer race heats up as Club Brugge push for Samuel Edozie signing

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Belgian giants Club Brugge have re-entered the race to sign Southampton winger Samuel Edozie and are reportedly making significant progress in their bid to secure the Nigeria-eligible forward before the close of the summer transfer window.

Following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship, several key players—including Edozie—are weighing their options as interest from clubs across Europe intensifies.

Transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri reports that Brugge, despite briefly cooling interest at the end of July, are now actively negotiating with Southampton. However, their latest offer has been deemed insufficient by the English club.

The 21-year-old is currently torn between Club Brugge and French Ligue 1 side Racing Strasbourg, who are said to already have a verbal agreement in place with Southampton. A final decision from the player is expected in the coming days.

Born in England to a Nigerian father and an English mother, Edozie remains eligible to represent either the Super Eagles or the Three Lions at senior level. His next move could play a pivotal role in shaping his international future.

Edozie joined Southampton from Manchester City in 2022 and has since made 34 appearances for the Saints across all competitions.
