After weeks of drawn-out negotiations, South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have secured the signing of Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro, Nigeria Footballng reports.
The 22-year-old forward, formerly of Mamelodi Sundowns, spent last season on loan at SuperSport United, where his clinical displays in attack caught the eye of several PSL clubs. Chiefs ultimately moved quickest to seal the deal.
Ighodaro had already been training with the Amakhosi in recent weeks while final details of the transfer were ironed out. The move was officially completed on Tuesday morning and the striker will be formally unveiled in the coming days.
Confirming the acquisition, Chiefs expressed their excitement in a club statement: “We warmly welcome Etiosa into the Kaizer Chiefs family. We’re excited to have him join our journey.
“His passion, work rate, and dedication will surely add to the team this season and beyond.
“We look forward to creating unforgettable moments together in the Gold & Black colours of the Glamour Boys. Here’s to new beginnings and the spirit of Amakhosi.”
Ighodaro’s arrival is seen as a major boost for Chiefs as they continue their squad rebuild and push for silverware in the new PSL campaign.
