Egypt 2023: President Buhari backs Nigeria to win U20 AFCON title

President Muhammadu Buhari has tasked the Nigeria U-20 national team to go all out and win U20 African Cup of Nations title in Egypt.
The Flying Eagles will be taking on The Gambia the semifinal of the youth tournament in Cairo on Monday after securing a place in the Indonesia 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup coming up later in the year.
President Buhari’s message were convened through Sports Minister, Sunday Dare who arrived Cairo on Sunday to cheer the team to victory alongside an aide to President Buhari on Sports, Daniel Amokachi.
“Mr President and indeed the whole of Nigeria is proud of what you have already achieved,” President Buhari said.
“That is the major reason I have been directed by Mr President to come here to see you. The target is to win a World Cup ticket and you have done that.
“Now, go for the ultimate prize. You can repeat what you did at the WAFU B competition. You can smell the trophy now, so take it step by step and become African champions again.”
The semifinal match will take place at the Cairo International Stadium by 5pm.
