Enugu Rangers humble Ingas to retain Enugu State FA Cup title

Rangers International FC reaffirmed their supremacy as the best in Enugu State with a 5-1 humiliation of Ingas FC in the final of the state FA Cup final on Wednesday.
The final match played at the Rangers’ practice pitch located at the Independent Layout, Enugu was handled by FIFA referee, Ndidi Madu.
Rangers’ coach Abdu Maikaba went into the final match with his best legs, including Uche John, Godwin Obaje and Shedrack Asiegbu among others first team players.
The Flying Antelopes took the lead inside seven minutes of the match as right back, Chidera Ezeh scored from sublime free kick.
Innocent Gabriel make it two for Maikaba side eight minute later after from a solo effort.
Ingas FC halved the deficit on 28th minute when attacking sensation, Okorie Chiedozie expertly curled home a free kick from the edge of the box.
Rangers started the second half with more purpose and vigor and the have the goals cushion restored in the 57th minute through Chidiebere Nwobodo smashing home a perfect cross from Austin Onyemaechi.
Experienced striker, Godwin Obaje grabbed a quick brace on 79 and 82 minutes to further punish Ingas FC handled by former Nigerian international, Kingsley Obiekwu (MON).
Coach Maikaba who commended his boys not only for winning the cup but for their improved goal scoring abilities which he believed would help the team get better in the league proper.
“It was a good game against a determined side but our early goals destabilized them.
“I am happy with the performance of my players, especially with the harvest of goals and it is my belief that it will motivate the players going into the second round of the NPFL season starting with our rescheduled match with Rivers United.”
The final match attracted large number of spectators and critical stakeholders in football including the Chief Operating Officer of Interim Management Committee, IMC, Prince Davidson Owumi.
