Nigerian striker Simy Nwankwo risks facing sanctions from his club Benevento for visiting Naples to watch Napoli’s Serie A clash against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
The Serie B club is set to take disciplinary actions against the former Crotone striker as they deem his behaviour as unprofessional.
Benevento are currently battling to avoid relegation to Serie C and Nwankwo has failed to score in his last 22 games for the club.
The 4-capped Super Eagles striker who had gone to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium to support his Nigerian brother was also seen together with some Nigerian celebrities including P-Square and Cubana Chief Priest.
The incident has caused an uproar among the club’s management and supporters, who view Simy’s behaviour as unprofessional.
However, it is unclear which disciplinary action will be meted out to the Nigerian international.
The club’s management and supporters are disappointed in Simy’s lack of focus and contribution to the team this season.
In the game itself, Osimhen scored a late equalizer as Napoli played out a 1-1 draw with the Rossoneri to crash out from the quarterfinals Champions League on a 2-1 aggregate.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old has not been invited to the national team since Osimhen became the undisputed number nine.
