African Football League gets October 20 kickoff date

The newly formed African Football League, AFL has been been confirmed to kickoff on 20th of October, 2023 with eight teams contesting for honors, trophies and money, Nigeria Football can report.
The competition which will be organized by Confederation of African Football, CAF along with their partners will last for four weeks where the teams will be grouped into two with four teams each.
Reigning champions of Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Enyimba FC are part of the prestigious tournament that will be concluded on November 11, 2023.
South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, Esperance SC of Tunisia, DR Congo’ TP Mazembe, Simba Sports Club from Tanzania and Atletico Petroleos de Luanda from Angola are the other seven clubs to participate at the money spinning tournament.
The Peoples’ Elephants will use Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo as home ground for the tournament after a delegation from CAF visited and certified the stadium fit.
The official draw for the inaugural tournament is scheduled for early September 2023.
