2026 WAFCON: Folashade Falokun Named New Super Falcons Team Coordinator

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed respected sports administrator Mrs. Folashade Falokun as the new Team Coordinator of the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team.
The appointment is part of the Federation’s drive to reinforce the administrative and operational framework of the Super Falcons as the reigning African champions prepare for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Falokun brings a wealth of experience in sports administration, having built a reputation for effective team management, athlete welfare and organizational excellence. Her background in sports administration, particularly within the Lagos State sports system, is expected to strengthen the day-to-day coordination of the Super Falcons as they target continued success on the continental stage.
As Team Coordinator, Falokun will oversee the team’s administrative and logistical operations, serving as the vital link between the players, coaching staff, the Nigeria Football Federation and other stakeholders. Her responsibilities include ensuring the seamless organization of training camps, travel arrangements, accommodation, match-day logistics and overall team welfare.
The appointment has already attracted commendation from across the Nigerian sports community.
The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) congratulated Falokun on her elevation, describing the appointment as a fitting reward for her dedication and service to Nigerian sports.
“Congratulations Mrs. Folashade Falokun on your appointment as Team Coordinator of the Super Falcons. May this well-deserved appointment usher in greater accomplishments as you continue to serve Nigerian sports with distinction,” the Commission said.
Falokun assumes the role at a crucial time for Nigeria’s most successful national team. The Super Falcons will head to Morocco as defending champions for the 2026 WAFCON, aiming to retain the title and further extend their record as Africa’s most decorated women’s national team.
Her first major assignment will be coordinating the team’s preparations throughout the tournament, ensuring the players and technical crew have the necessary administrative and logistical support as Nigeria embarks on another quest for continental glory.
With her appointment, the NFF has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the off-field structures that support the Super Falcons, a move expected to enhance the team’s professionalism and readiness for the challenges ahead.
