Xavi Alonso points out Nathan Tella’s ability to Jose Peseiro

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has pointed out the capabilities of new invitee Nathan Tella, to Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro.

The  24-year-old was on target for Bayern Leverkusen in their resounding 4-0 victory over Union Berlin on Sunday in the German Bundesliga.

The Nigerian forward, known for his pace and dribbling skills, was barely two minutes on the pitch when he scored the sweet and swift goal that left his coach clamoring for a chance for him in the Super Eagles lineup.

Meanwhile, Tella secured his first national team call-up as Nigeria is set to face Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Alonso praised Tella’s qualities while he described him as a nice guy with a strong mentality and a great attitude.

“Nathan is a player that has the ability to just do the right thing, be in the right place, he has the quality to be in the box and makes the right runs,” Alonso said.

“In Nigeria, they have great strikers and maybe they could use good wingers. He’s a really nice guy with a strong mentality, he has a great attitude.”
