Dakkada relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League after Lobi Stars draw

Dakkada FC have lost their Nigeria Premier Football League status after five years in the country’s topflight following a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Lobi Stars in the matchday 17 Group B encounter on Saturday.
The Uyo based based had gained promotion to the Nigerian elite division in July 2019 but suffered a dismal start to the current abridged season as they failed to keep up with their decent form on home and away grounds.
Umar Danlami’s side went into the Saturday match against Lobi Stars who are desperate to guarantee a place in the Super Six and couldn’t subdue their visitors to keep their survival hopes alive.
After a barren opening half, they gained the lead two minutes into the restart but were eventually cancelled out by Ani Elijah’s 64th minute superb strike.
With a game to end the regular season, Dakkada can only boast of just 13 points from 17 matches.
Wikki Tourists’ 4-0 win over Abia Warriors condemned the Uyo based outfit to relegation as that was not enough to save them.
Dakkada will now find themselves in the second tier division of the Nigerian football from next season.
