By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team remained unmoved on the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.

The nine-time African champions secured a point from their 2-0 win over Cameroon this month, amassing 1623.29.

Those points were enough to secure their 36th position on the ranking and the highest in Africa ahead of next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Reigning African champions, South Africa also maintained their 54th position in the world and second on the continent ahead of WAFCON host, Morocco in 60th.

Cameroon, which suffered a 2-0 loss to the Super Falcons, moved up to 64th and fourth on the continent, while Zambia dropped to 65th.

Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, and Algeria complete the top 10 ranked women’s football teams in Africa.

The next ranking is expected to be released in August after WAFCON 2024.
