Edema Fuludu urges Eric Chelle to hand Ahmed Musa’s Super Eagles recall

The newly appointed head coach of the Nigerian men’s national team, Eric Chelle, has been urged to recall Ahmed Musa for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
This call came from former Julius Berger midfielder Edema Fuludu, who believes that Musa’s experience could be crucial in Nigeria’s bid to qualify for the World Cup.
The 32-year-old Super Eagles captain has not featured for Nigeria since their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations preparation match against Guinea. However, Musa has continued to play for Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
With the new Super Eagles head coach currently assessing players ahead of the vital World Cup qualifiers, Fuludu is confident that Musa could still make a valuable contribution to the team.
“The Super Eagles are in dire need of results to get our World Cup campaign back on track, and I feel someone like Ahmed Musa has a crucial role to play,” Fuludu told Guardian Nigeria.
“If Ahmed Musa can come back to play in the Nigerian league and stabilise Kano Pillars on the table, there’s nothing wrong in including him in the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup qualifier.”
Fuludu went on to highlight that older players have sometimes been pivotal in key moments for teams. “We have seen situations where older players became saviors for many teams in tight situations. We all know Ahmed Musa as one of the most dedicated players to play for the national team.”
He concluded, “After all, he has not officially announced his retirement from international football. I feel he still has a role to play in the Super Eagles if the coach wants him.”
