El-Kanemi Warriors have emerged as 2024 President Federation Cup winners after a 2-0 victory against Abia Warriors in the final match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Saturday.

A brace from Nasiru Salihu lifted the Northern side to victory in Abia Warriors first-ever appearance in the President Federation Cup.

El-Kanemi Warriors which recently gained promotion to the top flight had the chance to open the scoring in the 13th minute but Salihu missed the spot kick.

He made amends with the first goal in the 32nd minute of play and doubled the lead in the 68th minute to seal the win.

The Borno Army triumph capped up a wonderful season where the team returned to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Apart from the title, El-Kanemi Warriors picked the second CAF Confederation Cup spot alongside Enyimba International FC.

They also won a cash prize of 50 million Naira for winning the title while Abia Warriors will smile home with 20 million Naira for their second placed finish.

This will be third time that El-Kanemi Warriors will be winning the title and their first since 1992.

They won their first title in 1991 after a 3-2 win over Kano Pillars and retained the title in 1992 with a 1-0 success against Stationery Stores.
