Enugu Rangers’ Fidelis Ilechukwu aims Abia Warriors scalp in Umuahia
By Wale Mustapha
Technical Adviser of Enugu Rangers, Fidelis Ilechukwu said his side needs the maximum points and has mapped out plans to record a decent result against Abia Warriors on Sunday.
Umuahia Township Stadium in Abia State will be the center of attraction when two rivals from South-East zone, as Abia Warriors and Enugu Rangers face off in an Oriental derby.
The two teams will be heading into the game on the back of disappointing results last time out as Rangers failed to beat Katsina United at home and settled for goaless draw, while Abia Warriors left Port Harcourt empty handed following their 2-1 defeat to Rivers United.
The Sunday come at a time when both teams needed the win to get back to reckoning, with Abia Warriors wing  both legs against Rangers in Awka and Umuahia but the former Plateau United is ready to put every needed technical efforts to achieve the target.
“I was told of what happened last season between both teams and we are fired up to pay them back in their own coin,” Ilechukwu told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“It is not like it would be a stroll in the pack for us. We expect a tough match in Umuahia but our sight is on the maximum points at stake. We can do it and we shall do it.”
Abia Warriors will be banking on the experiences of Ifeanyi Anaemena, Olufemi Thomas, Sharp Uzoigwe, Austin Uzochukwu, Chimezie Njoku, Jimoh Gbadamosi, Daniel Wotlai, Philip Ozor, Emmanuel Onu, Adejoh Ojonugwa, Nonso Nzediegwu, Kelechi Nnochiri, Samson Obi, and a host of others to try and stop one of the top scoring sides in the league that have scored in every league match except one.
Coach Ilechukwu will hope the trio of Kazeem Ogunleye, Godwin Obaje, and Chukwudi Nwaodu to find their scoring boots so as to increase their goals return this term just as midfield maestro, Isaac Saviour and Ejike Ugochukwu to anchor the middle of the pack and occasionally join in the push for the goals at the five thousand capacity, Umuahia Township Stadium.
