By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Former Nigeria international, Friday Ekpo has issued a note of warning to the players and officials of Flying Eagles ahead of Thursday’s quarterfinal clash with Uganda in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egpyt.
A 1-0 loss to Senegal was followed by wins over Egypt (1-0) and  Mozambique (2-0) in the three group stage games which sealed a quarter-final place for the National U-20 side ahead of their last eight battle with Ugandans.
And the former star has advised the team to be very weary of anxiety as they inch closer to a World Cup ticket.
“The players should be calm and know what they are in for. There should not be anxious moment at any time.” Ekpo told Brika FM.
On Thursday, Uganda will take on Nigeria at Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia. The Hippos of Uganda topped their group with one win and two draws, while Nigeria finished second in their group with two wins and a loss.
Both teams will be eager to secure their spot in the semi-finals, and fans can expect a fiercely contested match as all semi-finalists will qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
