Napoli defender Rrahmani weighs in on Osimhen vs. Lukaku debate
By Saheed Afolabi
Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani has sparked a debate over who is the superior striker between Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku.
Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s Serie A title win, the club’s first in 33 years. Despite his success, he was sidelined before securing a loan move to Galatasaray, an unusual turn of events considering his impact.
With Antonio Conte’s arrival as head coach, Romelu Lukaku has joined Napoli and made an immediate impact, scoring two goals and providing two assists in his first two matches.
Rrahmani, speaking to Sky Italia, stressed the differences between the two strikers. He described Osimhen as a player who touches the ball less frequently but demonstrates great quality when he does.
“In previous years, we had Osimhen, who kept the ball less and looked more for depth,” Rrahmani noted.
In contrast, Rrahmani praised Lukaku’s ability to handle physical pressure and his contribution in holding the ball and winning second balls.
“With Lukaku, we can play even under pressure. He has a strong physique and helps us to go and get the second balls and close the actions,” he added.
The comparison underscores the distinct qualities each striker brings to the team, reflecting their unique styles and contributions to Napoli’s attacking play.
