Nigerian striker Simeon Nwankwo, popularly known as Simy, showcased his goal-scoring prowess by netting his seventh league goal of the season for Crotone in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Lazio in the Italian Serie A on Sunday.
Crotone faced an early setback when Senad Lulic opened the scoring for Lazio in the third minute. Simy, however, swiftly responded, restoring parity for Crotone in the 29th minute. Federico Ceccherini then gave Crotone the lead in the 61st minute, but Lazio managed to salvage a point with a late goal from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the 86th minute.
Despite Simy’s efforts, Crotone currently finds themselves in the 18th position in the Serie A table with 35 points from 37 games. With one match left to play in the season, Crotone faces a crucial fixture against Napoli next Sunday. To secure survival and avoid relegation, Crotone not only needs to win against Napoli but also hopes that SPAL 2013, positioned in 17th place with a superior goal difference, fails to secure a victory at home against Sampdoria. The upcoming match against Napoli will be a decisive moment for Crotone’s Serie A status, and Simy’s goal-scoring abilities will be crucial in their quest for survival.
