NPFL: Akwa and Bendel Insurance share spoils as Matchday 16 concludes

Matchday 16 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season reached the concluding stage with the last match on Monday.

Bendel Insurance forced Akwa United to a 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Chijioke Alaekwe scored the opening goal from a cross which was converted in the 16th minute.

Stanley Nkorom equalized for the visitors from a set piece at the half-hour mark.

Both sides have the same number of points (16) after 16 games. Bendel Insurance occupies the 18th position, while Akwa is in the 19th place.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars returned to the top of the log on superior goal difference with a 2-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors.

Rivers United faltered 1-0 to Rangers International FC to drop to the second position with 29 points.

Rangers are two points behind the league leaders, while Ikorodu City, which suffered a 1-0 loss to Bayelsa United, is in the fourth spot with 24 points.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) secured a 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars in Ikenne to occupy the fifth position with 24 points.
