By Saheed Afolabi
Enugu Rangers players are determined to raise their performance level to a positive note as they begin their second stanza of the league with a home game against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.
The Flying Antelopes captain Uche John admits the players performance was woeful in the NPFL first round but he assured the fans of an improved and better second stanza, beginning at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
“I know that we have not done too well in the first round but I assure our fans that things will turn for good as the second round kicks off with a home game against Bayelsa United,” he told the club’s media.
“We are condemned to win and we are determined, physically and emotionally prepared for the visit of Bayelsa United with a resounding victory. We have to achieve our set target at the start of the season.”
Flying Antelopes midfield maestro, Ugwueze Chinemerem said the club will be among the top three to qualify for the super six and they are deserving of the three points at stake.
“I am very optimistic that we have the quality to work our way to be amongst the top three finishers in our group,” said Chinemerem.
“Bayelsa United is not a small side as we shall approach the encounter with all the seriousness it deserves with our eyes set on picking the three points at stake.”
Ranked seventh in the NPFL abridged group B with nine points from nine games will face eight placed Bayelsa United who have eight points from nine games.
