Captain of Nigeria’s men national team, Ahmed Musa, has opened up about his decision to return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with Kano Pillars, explaining that the love and acceptance from fans played a significant role in his move back to his boyhood club.
Musa, who terminated his contract with Turkish club Sivasspor earlier this year, joined Kano Pillars for the third time in his career.
The Nigerian international marked his return in style, scoring both goals in their 2-0 victory against Sunshine Stars on Matchday Five—Pillars’ first win in three games.
Speaking after the match, Musa expressed his delight at returning to play in Nigeria and helping Kano Pillars secure a crucial victory.
“I’m glad to be back in the NPFL and to contribute to my team’s success,” Musa said. “Playing here feels special, and I hope to keep making our supporters proud.”
The former Leicester City winger acknowledged the overwhelming support he receives from fans as a major motivating factor in his decision to come back to the NPFL.
“The love and acceptance from the fans always inspire me to return,” he continued. “I promise to always give my best whenever I play.”
Musa’s return to Pillars, alongside his Super Eagles teammate Shehu Abdullahi, is expected to strengthen the team as they aim for more success this season.
The duo will be available for Kano Pillars’ upcoming fixtures against Akwa United and Enugu Rangers, where they will look to continue building momentum in the league.
With Musa back on the pitch, Kano Pillars and their fans are hopeful of more victories as they chase glory in the 2024/2025 NPFL season.
