By Saheed Afolabi
Head coach of the Ugandan U20 side, Jackson Mayanja has played down pressure revealing that he’s not a coach who has pressure
The Cranes junior team had five points to top group B of the U20 AFCON from three games in Egypt and Mayanja insists his focus is on the squeezing past the Flying Eagles as a they target a U20 FIFA World Cup qualification.
“This tournament is a bit tricky but this is the game but we had to get a result because I also rested my key players because I trust every player,” the Ugandan tactician told media.
“Since that we have qualified, now we’re planning for the next one so that we can qualify to the next stage. There’s nothing much I can say about the drawing of lots.
“I’m not a coach who has pressure. This is what I was looking at whether I am first or second but I have qualified that is the most important.
“My goal here in this tournament is to take this team to the World Cup. That’s why I give a chance to every player of mine to express himself, to express talent.”
The Ugandans will face the Flying Eagles on Thursday, second of March 2023 at the Suez Canal Stadium.
The Nigeria side came second in group A with six points from three matches as Senegal topped the group with seven points from three games.
