2023 NBSL MD1 Wrap: Kebbi United stun holders Kada as Nmanko Patigi edge Ibom

The 2023 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) season kicked off on Saturday with Round 1 games in Kebbi State, with some shocking results, including an stunning opening defeat to Cup holders Kada Stars.

Kebbi United BSC, a new entrant and second club from Kebbi State recorded the biggest result of the opening match with a 9-8 win over defending champions, Kada BSC.

Kebbi United BSC won the first period 4-2, lost the second period 3-0, and secured a 5-3 win in the third and final period.

Umar Aliyu was the star player of the match as his four goals which all came in the third period secured a 9-8 win for his side.

Both teams were tied at 8-8 heading into the last moments of the third period before Victor Tale’s own goal won the game for Kebbi United BSC.

In the second match, Nmanko Patigi BSC thrashed Ibom BSC 8-3 at the same venue.

The first and second periods ended in 1-1 and 2-2 draws respectively before Nmanko Patigi put up a superb display in the third period with a 5-0 win.

Nmanko Patigi BSC’s Abdullahi Jonathan who scored two goals in the third period was voted the man of the match.

Matchday 2 of Round 1 will see three games on Sunday with Kada BSC and Ibom BSC gracing the sand in the morning.

In the evening game, Kebbi United BSC and Smart City BSC will square up while Kebbi BSC and Nmanko Patigi BSC round up the evening game.
