CAF CC: Stanley Eguma assures of Rivers United’s recovery from Dreams defeat

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Head Coach of  Rivers United Stanley Eguma is confident that his team will recover from Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Dreams in the second Group C match of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup.

Goals from John Antwi and Abdul Aziz Isah condemned the Nigerian side to their first group stage defeat in Kumasi.

Alex Oyowah pulled a goal back for Eguma’s side but that couldn’t prevent a loss for Nigeria’s sole representative on the continent and Eguma’s side had chances to draw the game but couldn’t convert.

“They ( Dream FC) got their chances and converted them, especially in the first half,” Eguma told media.

“We had a load of chances in the second half but unfortunately, we couldn’t convert those chances.

“That was our greatest undoing today and I think we have to go back and work on those areas and come back stronger in the next game.”

With the loss, the Pride of Rivers occupy the third position in the group in three points after two games given their 3-0 win over Academica of Angola.

Club Africain, the team’s next opponent tops the table with six points ahead of Dreams with three points while Academica is without a point.

The top two teams from the group will progress to the quarter-final after six group games.
