Ahmed Musa Donates ₦2 Million to Flying Eagles Ahead of WAFU B U20 Championship

Former Nigeria international captain Ahmed Musa has donated ₦2 million to Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, as they step up preparations for the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship scheduled to hold in Côte d’Ivoire from July 26 to August 9.

The cash donation was presented to the two-time FIFA U20 World Cup runners-up through the team’s coordinator, Alhaji Abubakar Abubakar. Musa, Nigeria’s most-capped international with 111 appearances, remains one of the country’s most celebrated footballers, having scored four goals across the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cup tournaments.

In addition to the financial support, the former Super Eagles skipper urged the young players to remain focused and committed as they prepare for the regional tournament, which will determine the WAFU B representatives for next year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations.

Reflecting on his own journey, Musa—who captained the Flying Eagles and won the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in South Africa in 2011—encouraged the players to seize the opportunity. He noted that success at the U20 level often lays the foundation for a successful professional football career.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Flying Eagles captain Simon Habila thanked Musa for the generous gesture and assured him that the squad is working hard in training. Habila expressed confidence that the team will deliver a strong performance and make Nigerians proud at the championship.
