Victor Osimhen: Nigeria striker makes Napoli history with goal against Cagliari

By Monsurah Olatunji
Victor Osimhen has become the first Napoli player to score in all of his first four Serie A matches against two different teams in the three-point era.
The Nigerian striker scored and bagged an assist for Napoli in their 2-1 win over Cagliari at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Saturday in a blistering and memorable six-minute run in the second half.
The 24-year-old put Partenopeans in front after 69 minutes as he jumped highest to meet Mario Rui’s cross with a powerful header. But the lead only lasted three minutes before Cagliari equalized.
The African and Serie A best player of the year produced another moment of magic in the 75th minute juggling past four defenders to locate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the box, who finished calmly to make it 2-1.
Although he lasted on the pitch until the 82nd minute, his goal made it into the record book.
According to Opta a reputable statistic collector, Osimhen is the only Napoli player to score in each of his first four Serie A matches against two different teams, in the three points per win era (since 1994/95): Cagliari and Sampdoria (between 2021 and 2023).
