Awoniyi pens emotional farewell to Steve Cooper after Nottingham Forest sacking

Nigeria star Taiwo Awoniyi has penned an emotional farewell to Steve Copper who was sacked as Nottingham Forest coach on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

The Nigerian International was brought to Nottingham Forest by Cooper from Union Berlin during the 2022 summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old played a pivotal role in helping the Reds secure their Premier League status amidst a challenging relegation campaign.

Awoniyi delivered an impressive performance by scoring 10 goals in 25 Premier League appearances.

He conveyed a heartfelt message to the manager, acknowledging Cooper’s role in helping him realize his dream of playing in the Premier League.

The Super Eagles star was on the books of Liverpool but never got the opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing in the English Premier League.

Under his leadership, the striker scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, but injuries prevented him from achieving his full potential at the club.
