Afcon 2023: Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface can lead Nigeria to glory – Etim Esin

Nigeria ex international, Etim Esin believes the national team strikers are capable of shining bright at the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles top strikers in Europe, notably Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface have been in a terrific form for their clubsides and are expected to give the country some ray of hopes for goals laden tournament.

And Esin believes Osimhen and Boniface have the requisite experiences to lead Nigeria to glory on the continental stage, while hoping the midfielders live up to expectations by creating chances for the forwards.

“I am very confident with the crop of strikers we have presently in the Super Eagles,” Etim told Complete Sports.

“Both Osimhen and Boniface are good enough to lead to lead Nigeria to AFCON glory in Ivory Coast. They have been banging in the goals in their respective clubs in Europe and I am confident they can do the same with the team.

“I just pray the midfielders will be able to supply them with quality passes because I know Osimhen and Boniface are dangerous in front of goal.”

Nigeria are drawn in group A of the AFCON with host nation, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.

The continental showpiece is scheduled to begin on January 11 and come to an end on February 13.
