Venezia striker Akor Adams delivered a stunning competitive debut on Saturday night, scoring twice and providing an assist as his side came from behind to defeat Modena 3-2 in the Coppa Italia.
Adams, who joined Venezia from Sevilla during the summer transfer window, made an immediate impact, playing a direct role in all three of his team’s goals as they booked their place in the next round of the competition.
Modena took the lead through Giuseppe Ambrosino, but Adams quickly restored parity for Venezia with a composed finish before the interval.
Ambrosino struck again after the break to put Modena back in front, but Adams remained at the heart of Venezia’s attacking efforts as they mounted a late comeback.
With seven minutes remaining, the Nigerian international turned provider, setting up John Yeboah to level the score at 2-2.
Just two minutes later, Adams completed Venezia’s turnaround with a superb strike to give his side a 3-2 lead and secure their progression in the tournament.
It was an outstanding competitive debut for the former Sevilla forward, who will now look to build on his impressive start and establish himself as a key player for Venezia in the new campaign.
