Paris 2024 Qualifiers: Dates for Super Falcons vs Banyana Banyana clash confirmed

The dates for the two legged tie between Nigeria’s senior women’s national team and their counterpart from South Africa in the deciding Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers has been revealed.

According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) website, the final round of qualifiers will see South Africa facing Nigeria, while Zambia will take on Morocco in two-legged fixtures between 01 – 09 April 2024.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will host the Banyana Banyana in the first leg of the 2024 Olympic Games final round (Fouth Round) qualifier on, Friday, April 1, 2024.

The encounter will hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

The reverse fixture will take place at the Mbombela Stadium, Mpumalanga eight days later.

The Super Falcons edged Cameroon 1-0 on aggregate to qualify for the final round against South Africa, a clash Banyana Banyana coach described as a ‘do or die’ affair.

African champions, South Africa secured a 4-0 win on aggregate over Tanzania in the third round of the qualifiers.

The winner of the two legged fourth round tie will qualify for the women’s football event of Paris 2024 Olympics.

They will be joined by either Morocco or Zambia as the two African representatives.

Only five African countries have taken part in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament since its inception in Atlanta in 1996, namely: Nigeria (2000, 2004, 2008), Cameroon (2012), South Africa (2012, 2016), Zimbabwe (2016) and Zambia (2020).
