Christopher Danjuma, the head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, is preparing his squad for a tough physical battle against Senegal in their upcoming group match.
Acknowledging the physicality of their Senegalese counterparts, Danjuma emphasized the need for his team to rely on ball movement and mobility to counteract Senegal’s strength.
“Senegal is a very physical team. Even in my last Qualifiers against them on our way to Costa Rica, we played them,” stated Danjuma, highlighting Senegal’s physical prowess.
“They are a physical team. What we will do is to make the ball do the work for us. The ball moving around and we need to be more mobile so that we don’t go into one-on-one dues with them.”
To neutralize this advantage, Danjuma stressed the importance of keeping the ball moving and maintaining mobility on the field, avoiding one-on-one duels with Senegalese players.
“We will make sure that they don’t use their physical strengths to have an advantage over us,” he concluded, outlining his strategy for the match.
Nigeria kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Morocco, with goals from Chioma Olise and Yina Adoo, setting the stage for a crucial encounter against Senegal.
