By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

On his debut for Italian Serie A side, Lazio, Fisayo Dele Bashiru scored two goals as his new side thrashed lowly rated Italian team Auronzo 23-0 in an international friendly match on Sunday.

Eight of the 23 goals were scored in the first half with the other 15 coming in the second period of the match.

Taty Castellanos (brace), Pedro (hat trick), Nicolo Casale, Matteo Guendouzi, and Gusav Isaksen were on target in the first half.

Dele Bashiru was introduced into the game and he showed his mettle.

Tijjani Noslin, Matias Vecino, Loum Tchaouna, and Sana Fernandez (brace) increased the lead to 13 before Dele Bashiru scored the 14th goal in the 64th minute.

Vecino, Toma Basic, and Noslin (brace) made it 18-0 before Dele Bashiru converted the 19th goal of the game in the 73rd minute.

Tchaouna (brace), Jean Daniel Akpa Akpro, and Fernandez completed the rout.

Dele Bashiru scored his first-ever goal for the Nigeria’s senior men’s national team during a 1-1 draw with South Africa in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Uyo before having a knock.

The knock ruled him out of the 2-1 loss to Benin Republic and is expected to return to the Super Eagles set up when the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers get underway.
