By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Kwara United have been crowned champions of the 2025 President Federation Cup after a tense penalty shootout victory over Abakaliki FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday.

The highly competitive final ended goalless after regulation time, with both teams unable to break the deadlock.

In the ensuing penalty shootout, Kwara United held their nerve to win 4-3, clinching their first major silverware in recent years.

With the victory, the Ilorin-based side secured Nigeria’s final slot for the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, joining fellow NPFL side Abia Warriors on the continental stage.

NPFL champions Remo Stars and Rivers United will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League.
