Kwara United FC emerged champions of the Kwara FA Flow FM Federation Cup on Sunday after a convincing 2-0 victory over Gaa Akanbi FC in the final held at George Innih Stadium.

The Harmony Boys wasted no time asserting dominance, with Johnmark Aule opening the scoring in the 11th minute. Just three minutes later, Alao Mohammed doubled the lead to put the match firmly beyond the reach of the debutants.

Gaa Akanbi FC had impressed en route to the final, edging past ABS FC in a penalty shootout during the semi-finals. Kwara United, on the other hand, delivered a commanding 7-1 victory over KWAITA FC to secure their place in the final showdown.

Speaking after the match, Coach Ashifat Suleiman noted that the tournament served as valuable preparation for upcoming national assignments, as the team aims to defend its President Federation Cup title.

He described the state-level triumph as a significant morale boost and expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness for the challenges ahead. The coach also emphasized the team’s ambition in the league, stating their determination to secure maximum points from their remaining fixtures.

Kwara United will next face Niger Tornadoes in Minna on matchday 36, before hosting Enyimba FC in week 37. They will then wrap up their campaign with an away fixture against Bayelsa United FC in Yenagoa.
