OFFICIAL: Kion Etete joins Rotherham United on loan from Cardiff City

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Rotherham United have confirmed the signing of striker Kion Etete on a season-long loan from Cardiff City, ahead of their 2025/26 League One campaign. The move is subject to ratification by the EFL, FA, FAW, and international clearance.

The 23-year-old forward, who is eligible to represent Nigeria through his father, arrives at the New York Stadium to strengthen manager Matt Hamshaw’s attacking options ahead of Saturday’s league opener against Port Vale.

Etete began his professional career at Notts County before earning a move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. He later gained valuable experience through loan spells at Bolton Wanderers, Northampton Town, and Cheltenham Town.

Since joining Cardiff City in 2022, Etete has made 56 appearances in the Championship, contributing with his physical presence and hold-up play in the final third.

His addition brings further depth and competition to a Rotherham frontline that already includes Jordan Hugill, Sam Nombe, and Joshua Kayode, as the Millers look to mount a strong promotion challenge.
